Making my way through the endless rows of slot machines, the patrons reminded me of the bar scene from Star Wars and the smell of cigarette smoke permeated everything. Walking through the casino to get to 'The Venue' I was alternately fascinated and disgusted. My spot on the seventh floor of the casino's parking structure offered a dramatic view of the downtown skyline. The Venue is located in the Horseshoe Casino on the Lake Michigan shore, just south of the city of Chicago. Checked into the hotel, triple checked my gear and headed out. The interactive seating chart offered my choice of seats the day tickets went on sale months earlier, so I was able to locate myself in the sweet spot.Īs I was attending this show solo, the four hour drive was boring but thankfully uneventfull. I think they need to work on event day logistics.I had been looking forward to the Hammond Indiana show for what seemed like ages. Yeah! Once we finally got to the car, it was another 45 minutes before we got out of the parking lot. Imagine walking up 4 flights of stairs in your date night shoes. Hundreds of people trying to use the same set of elevators at once has to be a fire hazard. Finally, getting to the parking lot was absolutely horrific. Perhaps on nights when shows are booked, they should consider leaving the restaurant open longer. The line was extremely long, when we finally got to the front, the lady was nice enough to let us know that they would be closing soon and not likely to be cooking much more. After the concert, many people tried to go to the buffet.

They are like cheap, uncomfortable folding chairs. The view was great, but really, the seats are bad. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. It would be nice if there was a way to get to the venue without going through the casino. I had to inhale cigarette smoke during the walk. For starters, you have to walk through the casino to get to the venue. None of this has to do with the performers, they were great.
